Amm(i)gone with Third Culture Kid & Global Majority Pre-Show Happy Hour

  • The Sam Theater @ The Flea (map)

PlayCo, Woolly Mammoth Theatre, The Flea, and Kelly Strayhorn Theater presents

Amm(i)gone

Adil Mansoor is a queer Virgo Pakistani-American theater queen. His single mother is an Aquarian Hijabi Quranic scholar. Since she discovered Adil’s sexuality online, their once-close bond now needs its own fierce rescue mission. In Amm(i)gone, a portmanteau of “ammi” (“mother” in Urdu) and the Greek heroine Antigone, Mansoor invites us on a journey of heartbreak and repair between mother and son as they embark on an examination and translation of Sophocles’ Antigone into Urdu. Passionately mining Greek tragedy, Islam, and their own memories, they seek to recover their love across faith.

PRE-SHOW: Third Culture Kid & Global Majority Night

Arrive early for our pre-show Happy Hour in The Pete, which centers on Global Majority and international audience members. We provide nibbles and libations, you bring yourself (and a friend)! Afterward, join us upstairs for the 8pm performance. Space is limited.

Global Majority refers to those who identify as “Black, Asian, brown, dual-heritage, indigenous to the global south, and or have been racialized as ‘ethnic minorities’.”

Third Culture Kids are those who have “spent their formative years in places not their parents’ homelands.”
