Awake in the Dark
Awake in the Dark tells the story of Christiane, a woman in her thirties living in New York, who receives a cryptic address from her mother on her deathbed—a location in Germany. With only blurred childhood memories of wartime Germany, Christiane knows little about her father, a German soldier lost early in the war. But this address hints at something deeper, urging Christiane back to Heidelberg, where she uncovers a startling revelation. Based on the book by Shira Nayman that The Atlantic described as “A haunting excursion into the past…a literary page-turner with a classic O. Henry twist.” Original music is by Ben Moore. Starring Juliana Sass and Antoinette LaVecchia. Jack Kessler, viola. Nathaniel LaNasa, piano. Todd Palmer, clarinet. Directed by Maria Mileaf. Set Design, Neil Patel.
